This facility is for adult inmates.

The Sequatchie County Corrections Center is a medium-security detention center located at 351 Fredonia Rd Dunlap, TN which is operated locally by the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Sequatchie County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Dunlap Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The processing procedure of an inmate, also known as “booking” procedure, consists of gathering proper paperwork from arresting deputies or agencies, inmate intake sheet filled out, medical screening, photographing, fingerprinting and classification. Our facility is ever-evolving as we incorporate various technologies to ensure the safety of the community.

Once an inmate is incarcerated in our facility we offer a variety of inmate programs aimed to help change the behavior of inmates to better their chances at contributing to society rather than becoming repeat offenders. Programs offered include GED classes, church services, work release, trustee positions, jail food services, mechanics trustee program, government building and lawn care programs, food gardens and a library program.

While the Sequatchie County Justice Center houses many inmates, removing them from society and from their victims, it can be overwhelming and in an effort of offset the taxpayers’ money, the Sheriff’s Office leases unused beds to the state at a cost of $37 a day per inmate. Money received from housing is returned to the country general fund. In 2014 the Sheriff’s Department collected $800,000 from housing state inmates. Other programs implemented by the detention center to help offset taxpayers’ money is the sell of both inmate phone cards and e-cigarettes.

Inmate money – The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a Commissary System offered by the Blind Vendors. This service allows inmates to purchase necessary items pertaining to personal hygiene, approved clothing, food items, and various other items. Inmates are able to place a weekly order based on their account funds, which are deposited in the inmate's personal accounts. These items are distributed on a designated day, once the orders are received by the Blind Vendors. Deposits into an inmate account are required prior to purchases and can be made utilizing the ordering system provided by VendEngine.

Sequatchie County Corrections Center – Visitation

VISITATION DAYS/HOURS

A-POD (Female) is allowed visits on Tuesday of every week. 8 am to 4 pm.
B-POD (Male) is allowed visits on Wednesdays of every week. 8 am to 4 pm.
C-POD (Male) is allowed visits on Mondays of every week. 8 am to 4 pm.
TRUSTEE visitations are allowed on Sundays of every week if no other visitations have taken place on the above assigned days. 8 am to 2 pm.

Visitation hours for all PODS are from 8 am to 4 pm on the above stated day.

 VISITATION IS OVER AT THE ABOVE GIVEN TIMES
(e.g., visitation starting after 3:30 pm must leave by 4:00 pm so plan accordingly and be on time)

No visitors will be allowed in visitation after the above stated times.

VISITATION RULES

1. Visitors requesting to see inmates must:
   • Provide driver’s license or state-issued photo ID.
   • Be listed on the Inmates visitation list.
   • Be of relation (e.g., mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc.).
   • Marriage Certificates are required for proof
   • No persons with a no-contact order, restraining order or named as a suspect in a criminal case shall be visited by the victim.
   • Persons recently released from our facility may not visit until after 90 days.
   • Visitors under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by their parent or legal (court-appointed) guardian at all times while in the visitation area. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for the conduct, proof of age, and proof of relationship. Birth certificate with parents’ name on it is required during the first visit.

   Court-appointed guardians need to bring the legal paperwork that names them as the child(ren) guardian on their first visit.

   Children are not to be left alone for any reason. Children must behave while in the visitation area (e.g., no screaming, no running, no bothering other visitors, etc.). Children must stay with their parent/guardian while in the visitation area.

2. NO electronic devices of any kind (e.g., cell phone, camera, camcorder, tape recorder, etc.) are allowed in the visitation area except items needed for physical disability (e.g., hearing aid, etc.). ALL PERSONAL PROPERTY will be secured in your vehicle before entering visitation. Visitors found violating this rule are subject to temporary or permanent suspension of all visitation privileges.
3. Trusties that are working, inmates that are attending a program, inmates visiting attorneys, or inmates in a class will not be removed for visitation. It is the inmate’s responsibility to inform their visitor of their work, class, and programs schedules.
4. Inmates who are currently under medical observation are excluded from visitation until cleared by medical staff.
5. A visitor shall not be allowed to visit the same inmate more than once per day.
6. Inmates will be allowed a maximum of one visitation per week not to exceed 1 hour. If an inmate has multiple visitors during that time then the visitors will need to take turns in the visitation room. Visitors will NOT be allowed to sign in to see multiple inmates at one time.

NOTE: Visitors shall only visit the inmate that they are signed in to visit. If you talk to another inmate during your visit, your visit will be terminated and your future visitation privileges may be temporarily or permanently suspended.

7. Visitors must be dressed appropriately. Visitation will not be permitted if the visitor, including children, are dressed in violation of the dress code listed below.

   DRESS CODE:

   THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED:

   HOT PANTS, SHORT SHORTS, SWEAT OUTFITS, MINI-SKIRTS OR DRESSES MORE THAN 1 ½ INCHES ABOVE THE KNEE, BRALESSNESS, LOW-CUT NECKLINES, SEE-THROUGH BLOUSES, TANK TOPS, SPANDEX, SWIMSUITS, CLOTHING HANGING (SAGGING) BELOW THE WAIST, CLOTHING WITH HOLES IN INAPPROPRIATE AREAS, BARE FEET, BEDROOM SLIPPERS, PAJAMAS, OFFENSIVE SLOGANS OR ARTWORK ON SHIRTS, AND ETC.

8. Any destruction or defacing of county property by visitors or inmates is subject to temporary or permanent suspension of visitation privileges.
9. No item of any description will be given to or received directly from an inmate by a visitor. We DO NOT accept any items of any kind for inmates except for work release clothes, prescription eyeglasses, and contact lenses. See our Commissary section for details on providing inmates with items.
10. All visitors and visitor vehicles are subject to a search if warranted.
11. The introduction or attempts to introduce into or upon facility grounds of weapons, drugs, narcotics, alcoholic beverages or any other unauthorized items is a violation of Tennessee Laws and facility policy. Persons found introducing said contraband will be subject to criminal punishment as stated by law.
12. Persons under the influence of alcoholic beverages, narcotics or other drugs, or exhibiting irrational behavior for any reason will not be allowed to visit or remain on county property.
13. Any disturbances or emotional disruptive behavior exhibited at any time will result in your visitation being canceled, and you will not be allowed to remain on county property.
14. There will be no smoking, eating or drinking in the visitation area.
15. No profanity, loud talking, yelling, or profane jesters.
16. Instructions given by staff members will be adhered to. Non-compliance with rules, regulations, and policies will result in the temporary or permanent suspension of visitation privileges.
17. Visitation may be terminated at any time when a rule violation warrants such action.
18. Visitation may be terminated when extenuating circumstances exist within or outside the facility (e.g., lock-down, riots, bomb threats, fires, weather).
